Teeney Tiny House

We lived in several pretty small houses when we grew up. I guess in proportion to this tiny house with 1 person; our's was tiny houses in proportion to the space in housing 8 people!

Home of Jay Shafer, founder of the Tumbleweed Tiny House Company, in Sebastopol, California. Jay's home is a 100 square-foot cottage that includes a desk, a sitting area, a kitchen, a bathroom, a sleeping loft, and a front porch.

Jay chose to mount his house on wheels, in part because that allows him to quickly and easily relocate whenever he can find a more attractive place to live. (This week, for example, he's planning to move from this site, where he's been for six months, to a new location in a redwood grove.) The wheels also allow him to bypass various building codes which are largely designed with much larger dwellings in mind.
