Final Decision on Grandma's Middle Name

After talking to Connie this morning, her and I both agreed Grandma's middle name was Matilda. Connie was told this by Aunt Stella and Mom told me the same. They both said Grandma did not like the name Matilda, so she used the initial "M" then she decided she used Mae and later Mary. Here is the name origin and meaning of Matilda. Quite a popular little girl's name today! And Grandma was also pretty mighty to us!

The girl's name Matilda \m(a)-til-da, mat(i)-lda\ is pronounced muh-TIL-dah. It is of Old German origin, and its meaning is "mighty in battle". William the Conqueror's Queen Matilda (11th century) brought the name to Britain, when it was pronounced "maud". It was revived in the 18th century for awhile. A saint's name.
