Growing Up Brittingham story
My cousin, Kelly Beshore sent me a few old pictures from our Grandma Brittingham. One was of our family before Galen and Thurman. First-ever picture of me! It was taken about 1953 on Ash Street, Nevada Mo. My Dad was working at the state hospital. Not earning enough money to support the family he got a part-time job as a janitor at Missouri Public Service. He needed a car to get there. He went to 1st Finance Company, owned by Mr. Fowler, and got a loan to buy a car. The car was eventually repossessed.
Then Mr. Flower told Dad about the Patrolman position on the Nevada Police Force. Dad applied and got the job. Quitting the State Hospital job, and keeping the MoPub job, he began his career as Patrolman to Chief of Police. Also, Mr. Fowler was there for the Brittingham family financial needs whenever that occasion happened. He gave Dad a 2nd chance. They had an enduring relationship. Much needed more of today.
