Dad's Silver Tree and White Dove

We also bought at Marshall's a little silver tree for Dad. The dove we had matched so well. Dad instilled one thing in me and that was the "true" excitement of Christmas. The "waiting" and "hoping" for the one big gift once a year was so special. We would get the Western Auto Toy Catalog and pick out what we wanted. Mom and Dad would go to Western Auto and layed away all our toys in Nov. then they would charge them on a store account and have to pay on them the rest of the year! I will always remember Dad trying to sneak a huge box of toys into the house (never worked because with 6 kids there was always several or all of us lurking about the house) Barbara's job when she was a young teenager was to make the rest of us kids think Santa had actually delivered our gifts right down to tracking snow in the house and telling us it was Santa Claus who tracked it in! Our Family Christmas's were the BEST! because of such loving and caring parents.
